Lōkahi: The Ukulele Collective

A 501(c)(3) non-profit uniting schools, artists and technology - to ensure that every student in Hawaiʻi has the opportunity to learn, play and create music in school.

OUR MISSION

Play music in school

LŌKAHI is a Hawaiian word that means unity, harmony, and oneness. We have a collective vision to give all students, no matter their circumstances, access to high-quality music education.

WHAT WE DO

Empower Educators

We build technology-enabled, interdisciplinary, culturally-relevant music programs. Our approach centers on ‘kumu’ (educators) and equips them with training, a community of practice and teaching resources that amplify their impact.

Testimonials

Teacher at Queen Ka‘ahumanu School, Oahu

“Mahalo for dreaming up a LŌKAHI community and for empowering teachers like me with confidence to share one of Hawaii's treasures with our keiki.”

Teacher at Eleele Elementary School, Kauai

“My students are about to play in our winter program, alone without me - Three Christmas songs to close the show. I’m excited for them and am so happy to see how far they have come since September!”

Teacher at Roots School Maui

“This has been a game changer. As a very novice ukulele player, I have learned so much in the small time I have worked with the program. My students love the riffs and the feedback mode. They erupt into cheers and always want to try again and do better. ”
